The days of just popping in a training video are over. California Government Code section 12950.1 (also part of the California Fair Employment & Housing Act) requires employers to provide interactive sexual harassment prevention training taught by a person with expertise in the prevention of sexual harassment, discrimination and retaliation.  Churches are not exempt.

This training complies with California Government Code section 12950.1, which requires employers with 50 or more employees in California to provide workplace harassment prevention training to all supervisory employees. 

o Employers must train all supervisory employees then re-train every two years. 
o Training must be conducted by a person with expertise in the prevention of sexual harassment, discrimination and retaliation. 
o Training must be at least 2 hours of classroom or other effective interactive education relating to sexual harassment.

o Training must include:
       o Practical information on federal and state laws regarding prevention, prohibition and correction of sexual harassment, along with remedies available to victims.
       o Practical education and examples designed to instruct supervisors in the prevention of harassment, discrimination and retaliation.
